iPads in the Classroom Showcase 2/14/2019

Thursday February 14, 2019 at 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM Room C-559 9 seats available
For the past several years, Prof. Vyacheslav Dushenkov has used iPads and content-specific apps in Anatomy & Physiology classes. With the support of a CUNY C3IRG grant, and help from EdTech, he was able to examine the efficacy of such devices for Hostos students. He found that mobile devices and content-specific apps increase student enthusiasm and engagement. Students enjoy using the apps and mobile devices in the lab and feel that this modality motivates them to learn the subject matter.
The results and significance of his iPad study were recently published in the Journal of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society.

In this presentation, Prof. Dushenkov will share his experience using iPads in the class, and the process he has followed to research apps and strategies to successfully implementing in the course curriculum.

Faculty will also learn how to borrow an iPad, and start exploring apps and researching the advantages and disadvantages of integrating iPads in the classroom.

This workshop has only one session.

You will receive the PD Participation Badge after you complete and provide feedback. This will enter you into the EdTech Innovation Chase, which is a game-based digital badging system to provide badges for participating in professional development activities, mentoring, and innovating.
