Online Learning Training Programs 2021 Fall: Methods for Online Teaching 10/4/2021
This October, the Office of Educational Technology is offering a new Online Learning Initiative that focuses more closely on the best practices in online course delivery. The Fall 2021 Intermediate OLI-Methods for Online Teaching is in place for faculty who would like take a more in depth look at how they teach online in the context of the Community of Inquiry Framework. The Online Learning Initiative training and certification or the equivalent offered by SPS is a pre-requisite for this training.
The purpose of this training course is to provide focused explanations and practical exercises to improve student engagement and success in the online modality. These concepts are essential for both synchronous and asynchronous teaching styles. All three of the primary concepts found in the community of inquiry framework are covered in addition to a fourth, ‘learner presence’ which rounds out and balances aspects of the framework that are currently the topic of discussion in academic circles. This training will be delivered in a five-unit structure that follows the best standards and practices available to date.
